Job Description

A Service Advisor acts as the primary liaison between customers and the service department in automotive repair shops. They are responsible for understanding customer concerns about their vehicles, recommending appropriate services, and communicating repairs or maintenance needs to technicians. Service Advisors ensure a positive customer experience by managing service appointments, providing updates, and delivering clear explanations of work performed.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet customers and provide them with personalized service upon arrival.
  • Listen to customer concerns regarding their vehicle and document the issues.
  • Provide accurate estimates for vehicle repairs and services.
  • Communicate with technicians to relay customer concerns and recommend appropriate services.
  • Keep customers informed about the status of their vehicle throughout the service process.
  • Explain repairs and services in a clear and professional manner to customers.
  • Handle customer complaints and resolve any service issues promptly.
  • Upsell additional services or products based on vehicle needs.
  • Schedule appointments and manage service workflow to ensure efficiency.
  • Ensure proper billing and payment processes are completed.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in automotive services is a plus.
  • Previous experience as a Service Advisor or in a similar customer service role.
  • Knowledge of automotive systems and repairs.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Computer literacy and familiarity with service software systems.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Work Environment:

  • Primarily in automotive repair shops or dealerships.
  • Frequent interaction with customers, technicians, and management.
  • Fast-paced environment, with a need to manage multiple tasks at once.
  • Occasional exposure to noise, grease, and vehicle fumes.
