We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Scribe to assist physicians by documenting patient encounters in real-time during medical appointments. The Medical Scribe will be responsible for accurately recording patients’ histories, exam notes, treatment plans, and other relevant medical information into the electronic health record (EHR) system. This role is essential for improving physician efficiency and enhancing the quality of patient care by allowing healthcare providers to focus on patient interactions.

Responsibilities:

  • Accompany physicians during patient examinations and accurately transcribe medical notes, including patient history, physical exams, assessments, and treatment plans
  • Enter patient data into the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system in real-time, ensuring all information is accurate and up-to-date
  • Record patient and family histories, clinical symptoms, diagnoses, and follow-up instructions
  • Document medical test results, procedures, and patient discussions as directed by the healthcare provider
  • Assist in retrieving patient information, lab results, and previous medical records for review
  • Update EHR systems to ensure continuity of care and help manage patient flow through efficient documentation
  • Ensure medical records are complete, organized, and meet compliance standards
  • Communicate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation as needed
  • Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations
  • Assist with administrative tasks such as managing clinical paperwork, filing, and organizing patient records

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework or certifications in medical transcription, healthcare, or medical terminology preferred
  • 1+ years of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably with EHR systems
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology and basic healthcare practices
  • Excellent attention to detail and fast typing skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Cerner, or similar
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work under pressure in a clinical setting
  • Interest in healthcare careers (pre-med students often thrive in this role)

Work Environment:

  • Fast-paced clinical environment, typically in hospitals, outpatient clinics, or physician offices
  • Close collaboration with healthcare professionals, requiring a proactive attitude and excellent communication skills
  • Direct patient interaction is limited, as the focus is on supporting the physician with documentation and data entry
