A Pharmaceutical Sales Representative is responsible for promoting and selling pharmaceutical products to healthcare providers, including doctors, nurses, and pharmacists. The role involves building strong relationships with medical professionals, educating them on the benefits and features of the company’s products, and providing ongoing support to ensure the proper use of these products in medical settings. The primary goal is to drive sales, increase market share, and ensure that healthcare professionals are well-informed about the latest pharmaceutical innovations.

Responsibilities:

  • Promote and sell pharmaceutical products to healthcare professionals, including physicians, pharmacists, and medical staff
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with healthcare providers in your assigned territory
  • Educate healthcare professionals on the features, benefits, and appropriate use of pharmaceutical products
  • Deliver product presentations and answer detailed questions about the company’s products and their use in clinical settings
  • Analyze market trends, competition, and territory performance to develop strategies to maximize sales growth
  • Meet or exceed sales targets and objectives as defined by the company
  • Schedule regular visits with healthcare professionals to provide product information, samples, and educational materials
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to understand their needs and how the company’s products can help meet their patients’ needs
  • Stay informed about new developments in the pharmaceutical industry, including new products, clinical research, and treatment trends
  • Provide feedback from healthcare professionals to internal teams regarding product effectiveness, side effects, and market needs
  • Attend industry conferences, seminars, and training sessions to stay up-to-date on new products and sales techniques
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory guidelines and company policies in the promotion of pharmaceutical products
  • Prepare and submit sales reports, expense reports, and territory analysis to management on a regular basis
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and execute promotional campaigns to drive product awareness and adoption
  • Manage samples inventory and distribution in accordance with company policies and guidelines

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, business, marketing, or a related field
  • Proven sales experience, preferably in the pharmaceutical or medical field
  • Strong understanding of the pharmaceutical industry, medical terminology, and the regulatory environment
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with healthcare professionals
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage a large territory
  • Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and able to work independently
  • Willingness to travel extensively within your assigned territory to meet healthcare providers and attend meetings/conferences
  • Proficiency with CRM software and sales tracking tools
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to understand complex medical and scientific information and translate it into clear, actionable insights for healthcare professionals

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in pharmaceutical sales, especially in specific therapeutic areas such as oncology, cardiology, or infectious diseases
  • Strong network of existing relationships with healthcare professionals in the target territory
  • Knowledge of clinical research and how it influences medical decision-making
  • Familiarity with pharmaceutical regulations and compliance standards (e.g., FDA, HIPAA, and the Sunshine Act)

Work Environment:

  • Field-based role, involving travel to healthcare providers, hospitals, and clinics within a designated territory
  • Frequent in-person meetings, presentations, and consultations with medical professionals
  • Occasional attendance at conferences, workshops, and training sessions
