We are actively seeking a motivated Collection Specialist to manage and resolve overdue accounts, ensuring timely payments and minimizing bad debt. The Collection Specialist will play a key role in maintaining positive relationships with clients while negotiating payment arrangements and providing exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities:

• Monitor and manage a portfolio of delinquent accounts, contacting clients to collect outstanding payments
• Communicate with customers via phone, email, and letters to resolve past-due balances and establish payment plans
• Research and resolve discrepancies related to billing and payments
• Maintain accurate records of all interactions and negotiations with clients
• Escalate unresolved accounts to legal or collection agencies as needed
• Collaborate with internal departments, such as accounting and sales, to resolve payment disputes and ensure timely invoicing
• Provide regular reports on the status of delinquent accounts and collection efforts
• Ensure compliance with state and federal laws governing debt collection
• Identify opportunities to improve collection processes and recommend improvements to management

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting is preferred
• 1-3 years of experience in collections or a related field
• Strong negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to handle difficult conversations professionally
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with accounting software
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple accounts simultaneously
• Knowledge of debt collection laws and regulations
