Job Description

As a Park Ranger, you will be an essential steward of our natural and cultural resources, dedicated to preserving the beauty and integrity of our parks. You will engage with visitors, provide educational programs, and ensure the safety and protection of wildlife and plant life within park boundaries. Your passion for nature and commitment to conservation will inspire others to appreciate and respect the great outdoors.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor park areas to ensure compliance with rules and regulations, protecting the environment and wildlife
  • Conduct educational programs and guided tours, sharing knowledge about the park’s ecology, history, and recreational opportunities
  • Assist visitors with park activities, providing information and addressing any questions or concerns
  • Participate in wildlife conservation efforts, including habitat restoration and species monitoring
  • Maintain park facilities, including trails, campsites, and visitor centers, ensuring they are safe and accessible
  • Respond to emergency situations, including medical incidents, search and rescue operations, and natural disasters
  • Collaborate with other agencies and organizations for conservation projects and community outreach initiatives
  • Conduct regular inspections of park infrastructure and resources, documenting conditions and recommending improvements
  • Prepare reports on park activities, visitor statistics, and resource management efforts for administrative purposes
  • Serve as a role model for responsible outdoor behavior, emphasizing the importance of environmental stewardship

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, park management, recreation, or a related field preferred
  • Strong knowledge of natural and cultural resource management practices
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with the public
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a variety of outdoor settings
  • Physical fitness to perform duties that may include hiking, lifting equipment, and working in various weather conditions
  • First Aid and CPR certification is desirable
  • Previous experience in park management, outdoor education, or related fields is a plus
  • Valid driver’s license required; additional certifications for off-road or all-terrain vehicles may be necessary

Work Environment:

  • Work will primarily take place outdoors in a variety of settings, including forests, mountains, and coastal areas
  • Responsibilities may require extended periods of walking or hiking in rugged terrain and exposure to the elements
