A Pet Sitter/Dog Walker provides essential care, companionship, and exercise to pets while their owners are away. The role includes feeding, walking, playing, and ensuring the safety and well-being of pets, including dogs, cats, and other animals. The ideal candidate is an animal lover who is responsible, trustworthy, and comfortable with different breeds and sizes. Additionally, the role requires flexibility in scheduling and the ability to manage multiple pets at once. Some clients may also request light grooming or medication administration.

Responsibilities:

• Walk dogs of various breeds, sizes, and energy levels according to the owner’s instructions.
• Provide fresh food and water during pet sitting visits, ensuring the pet’s dietary needs are met.
• Engage in playtime and activities to keep pets physically and mentally stimulated.
• Clean up after pets during walks or in the home.
• Administer medications if required and instructed by the pet owner.
• Monitor pets for signs of illness or distress and report any concerns to the owner immediately.
• Ensure the safety and security of pets in your care, including while walking in public areas.
• Follow the specific care instructions provided by pet owners.
• Maintain regular communication with pet owners, including updates, photos, and messages.
• Provide overnight pet sitting services as requested by clients.

Requirements:

• Genuine love for animals and a comfort level with a variety of breeds and sizes.
• Proven experience in pet care, either personally or professionally, is preferred.
• Physical ability to walk and control dogs for extended periods.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain a high level of responsibility.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with pet owners.
• Patience and understanding, especially when dealing with energetic or anxious pets.
• Flexibility in schedule, including availability on weekends, evenings, and holidays.
• A valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation may be required for some jobs.
• Knowledge of pet first aid is a plus.

Work Environment:

• Primarily outdoors during dog walks, with varied weather conditions.
• In-home visits for pet sitting, providing a quiet and familiar environment for the pets.
• Independent work with little supervision but requires close coordination with pet owners.
