Job Summary: We are looking for a dynamic and detail-oriented Retail Buyer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing products that align with customer preferences and drive sales. The Retail Buyer will analyze market trends, negotiate with suppliers, and manage inventory to ensure the store’s product assortment is both appealing and profitable.
Responsibilities:
- Research and analyze market trends, consumer preferences, and competitor offerings to inform purchasing decisions.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and negotiate contracts to secure favorable terms.
- Select and purchase merchandise that aligns with the brand strategy and customer demand.
- Manage inventory levels and ensure optimal stock availability while minimizing overstock situations.
- Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to plan promotions and seasonal offerings.
- Monitor product performance and adjust buying strategies as needed to maximize sales and profitability.
- Prepare and present purchasing reports and forecasts to senior management.
- Stay informed about industry trends, new products, and supplier developments.
- Attend trade shows and industry events to identify new products and trends.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Proven experience in retail buying or merchandising.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
- Excellent negotiation and relationship management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and retail management software.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
Work Environment: This position is primarily office-based, with occasional travel to supplier locations and trade shows. The Retail Buyer will work in a collaborative environment, engaging with various teams to ensure successful product selection and merchandising.
