The Public Relations Assistant supports the PR team in executing public relations campaigns, media outreach, and communication initiatives. This role involves administrative tasks, assisting with the creation of press materials, and maintaining relationships with media contacts. The PR Assistant is essential in helping to enhance the organization’s brand image and ensure consistent messaging across various platforms.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in developing and implementing PR strategies and campaigns to promote the organization’s image and goals
- Draft, proofread, and distribute press releases, media advisories, and other communication materials
- Maintain and update media contact lists, databases, and reports on media coverage
- Help coordinate events, press conferences, and promotional activities, including logistics and invitations
- Monitor news coverage and social media platforms for relevant mentions and trends
- Provide support in preparing presentations and reports for internal and external stakeholders
- Assist with research for PR campaigns, including competitive analysis and industry trends
- Respond to media inquiries and assist in organizing interviews with company representatives
- Help maintain the organization’s online presence, including social media accounts and website updates
- Participate in team meetings and brainstorming sessions to generate new PR ideas and strategies
- Assist in the creation of content for newsletters, blogs, and other marketing materials
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, or a related field (or current enrollment in a degree program)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with media relations and basic PR concepts
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with PR tools and software
- Basic understanding of social media platforms and digital communication strategies
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks
- Strong research skills and the ability to analyze information effectively
- A proactive attitude and willingness to learn
Preferred Skills:
- Previous internship or experience in public relations, marketing, or communications
