As a Notary, your primary responsibility is to serve as an impartial witness in the signing of legal documents, ensuring authenticity, preventing fraud, and verifying the identity of the individuals involved. This role is crucial in legal, financial, and real estate sectors, providing verification for contracts, affidavits, deeds, and other legally binding documents. You will uphold the integrity of the notarization process by following all applicable state laws and regulations.

Responsibilities:

• Witness and authenticate the signing of legal documents such as affidavits, contracts, wills, deeds, and powers of attorney
• Verify the identity of signers using official identification documents
• Ensure that signers are willingly entering into agreements and understand the content of the documents they are signing
• Administer oaths and affirmations as required
• Maintain a detailed log of notarial acts, including the type of document notarized, the date, and the signatures involved
• Use a notary seal to certify notarized documents
• Provide mobile notary services as needed, traveling to clients’ locations when required
• Keep up to date with state notary laws and ensure compliance with all regulations
• Report any potential fraud or issues that arise during the notarization process
• Ensure confidentiality and safeguard the personal information of clients

Requirements:

• Active notary public license in the state of practice
• High school diploma or equivalent; additional legal or administrative education is a plus
• Knowledge of state notary laws and procedures
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to verify identification documents accurately
• Strong organizational and record-keeping skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and impartiality during the notarization process
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Mobile notary experience is a plus

Work Environment:

• Office or remote setting depending on the nature of the notarial service
• May require travel to clients’ locations for mobile notarization services
• Flexible working hours based on client needs, with the possibility of weekend or evening work
