Responsibilities:
- Represent clients in criminal court proceedings, including trials, bail hearings, and appeals
- Develop defense strategies by conducting legal research, analyzing case details, and interviewing witnesses
- Draft and file legal motions, appeals, and other necessary legal documents
- Negotiate plea deals with prosecutors to potentially reduce charges or sentencing
- Provide expert legal advice and guidance to clients throughout the criminal justice process
- Present evidence, cross-examine witnesses, and make compelling arguments to support the client’s defense
- Collaborate with investigators, forensic experts, and other legal professionals to build a strong case
- Advise clients on their legal rights, the consequences of criminal charges, and possible outcomes
- Stay informed about changes in criminal law and legal precedents
- Advocate for the dismissal of charges or reduction in penalties where applicable
- Represent clients in post-conviction matters, such as appeals or probation hearings
Requirements:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
- Licensed to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction
- 2+ years of experience as a Criminal Lawyer, or experience in criminal defense
- Strong understanding of criminal law, criminal procedure, and legal precedents
- Excellent research, writing, and advocacy skills
- Ability to handle high-pressure situations and make quick decisions
- Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple cases simultaneously
- Experience in plea bargaining and court litigation
- Willingness to work on complex and sensitive cases
- Attention to detail and strong analytical abilities
