Job Description

The Budget Manager is responsible for overseeing the development, execution, and monitoring of an organization’s budget. This role involves collaborating with department heads to develop accurate forecasts, tracking actual spending against the budget, and making adjustments as needed. The Budget Manager ensures that financial resources are allocated efficiently to meet the company’s strategic goals, while maintaining financial stability and compliance with financial regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and manage the organization’s annual budget.
  • Collaborate with department heads to gather budgetary needs and forecast future financial requirements.
  • Monitor and report on budget performance throughout the fiscal year, including actual versus budget variances.
  • Conduct regular budget reviews and make recommendations for adjustments to align with business objectives.
  • Prepare budget presentations and reports for senior management and stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations related to budgeting and financial reporting.
  • Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making regarding resource allocation.
  • Work closely with the finance and accounting teams to integrate budget data into financial reporting systems.
  • Provide training and support to staff on budget preparation and financial management.
  • Evaluate and improve budgeting processes, tools, and systems to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
  • Lead the development of long-term financial planning and forecasting models.
  • Assist in the preparation of grant applications, proposals, and reports as required.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in budgeting, financial planning, or a related role.
  • Strong knowledge of budgeting principles, financial reporting, and analysis.
  • Proficiency in financial software and tools (e.g., Excel, ERP systems).
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience with government or nonprofit budgeting is a plus.

Work Environment:

  • Typically works in an office environment, with occasional travel for meetings or conferences.
  • May have the opportunity for remote or hybrid work depending on the organization’s policies.
