The Preloader UPS Specialist is responsible for efficiently and accurately loading packages onto delivery trucks in a timely manner. This role involves handling packages of various sizes, organizing the loading area, and ensuring that the trucks are loaded according to the delivery schedule and safety standards. The Preloader UPS Specialist plays a key part in keeping the delivery operations running smoothly and on schedule.
Responsibilities:
- Load and unload packages onto delivery vehicles following the designated schedule
- Organize packages by delivery route and priority for efficient distribution
- Ensure packages are properly handled and sorted to prevent damage during transit
- Use package scanning tools to track and confirm loaded items
- Assist in maintaining a clean and safe loading dock and work area
- Follow safety guidelines to prevent workplace accidents and ensure the integrity of the packages
- Work collaboratively with the loading team to meet daily delivery goals
- Monitor package handling equipment and report any mechanical issues to supervisors
- Assist with tracking and inventory of packages as needed
- Ensure that vehicles are loaded in accordance with UPS standards to optimize space and delivery efficiency
- Communicate with supervisors regarding any delays or issues with the loading process
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to lift, carry, and move packages weighing up to 70 lbs
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Basic proficiency in using package scanning technology
- Ability to work early morning shifts (pre-dawn hours)
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet strict deadlines
- Previous warehouse or logistics experience is a plus, but not required
Work Environment:
- Physically demanding role with repetitive lifting, standing, and bending
- Early morning shifts, typically starting before dawn
- Working outdoors in varying weather conditions
