The Stock Controller is responsible for overseeing and managing inventory levels, ensuring that products are available to meet customer demand while minimizing excess stock. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to analyze inventory data to make informed decisions. The Stock Controller will work closely with other departments to maintain an efficient supply chain and support overall business operations.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure adequate stock availability
- Conduct regular stock audits to maintain accuracy and reconcile discrepancies
- Prepare and maintain inventory reports, including stock movements and forecasts
- Collaborate with purchasing and sales teams to align inventory with business needs
- Implement and optimize inventory control procedures and best practices
- Coordinate the receiving, storage, and distribution of goods
- Analyze inventory data to identify trends, slow-moving items, and potential stock issues
- Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers to facilitate timely replenishment of stock
- Assist in the training of warehouse staff on inventory management practices
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and best practices for stock handling
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in supply chain management, logistics, or a related field is preferred
- Previous experience in inventory management or stock control is highly desirable
- Strong analytical skills with a focus on data accuracy and detail
- Proficient in inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word)
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Familiarity with warehouse operations and logistics is an advantage
Work Environment:
- Primarily office-based with some time spent in the warehouse or storage areas
- Fast-paced environment requiring the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Occasional lifting of stock items may be required
