The Order Picker is responsible for accurately picking and preparing orders for shipment in a warehouse or distribution center. This role involves using various equipment and technology to ensure that products are selected, packed, and labeled correctly for delivery. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, efficient, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Retrieve items from warehouse shelves and storage areas according to order specifications
- Verify the accuracy of picked items against order lists to ensure correctness
- Use equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, or order pickers to move products as needed
- Pack items securely for shipment, ensuring they are protected from damage during transit
- Label packages accurately, including shipping and handling instructions
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to ensure safety and efficiency
- Assist in inventory management by reporting discrepancies or low stock levels to supervisors
- Follow safety protocols and guidelines while operating equipment and handling products
- Collaborate with team members to meet daily picking and shipping goals
- Participate in training programs to enhance skills and knowledge about products and safety standards
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous experience in a warehouse or order picking role is a plus, but not required
- Ability to operate warehouse equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks) preferred; certification may be required
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work
- Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and perform physical tasks for extended periods
- Basic math skills to perform calculations related to order picking
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends if necessary
