As a Shop Foreman, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of the shop, ensuring efficient workflow and high-quality standards. You will be responsible for supervising a team of skilled workers, managing resources, and coordinating production schedules. We are seeking a motivated individual with strong leadership abilities, a keen eye for detail, and excellent problem-solving skills to ensure that projects are completed on time and to specifications.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and lead a team of technicians, mechanics, or laborers, providing guidance and support as needed
- Oversee daily shop operations, including scheduling work assignments, monitoring progress, and ensuring deadlines are met
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment by enforcing safety protocols and conducting regular inspections
- Review and approve work orders and production plans, making adjustments as necessary to optimize efficiency
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide training, and address any personnel issues within the team
- Collaborate with management to establish production goals and develop strategies for achieving them
- Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues, ensuring minimal disruption to workflow
- Maintain inventory of tools and materials, placing orders as needed to ensure the shop is adequately stocked
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and company policies regarding quality and safety standards
- Foster a positive team environment and promote open communication among staff members
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certifications are a plus
- Proven experience in a supervisory role within a manufacturing or technical environment
- Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with shop tools and equipment
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and work orders
