The Prep Cook plays a crucial role in the kitchen by assisting chefs in the preparation of ingredients, ensuring a smooth and efficient cooking process. This position involves various tasks, including chopping vegetables, preparing sauces, and ensuring that all necessary ingredients are readily available for cooking. The Prep Cook helps maintain high standards of cleanliness and food safety in the kitchen.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and wash ingredients, including vegetables, meats, and grains, according to established recipes and specifications
• Chop, slice, dice, and grate food items as directed by the head chef or kitchen supervisor
• Measure and mix ingredients for sauces, dressings, and marinades
• Assist in the preparation of meals and menu items by following recipes and portion control guidelines
• Organize and maintain the prep area to ensure cleanliness and efficiency
• Ensure all food items are stored properly in accordance with food safety regulations
• Assist in cleaning and sanitizing kitchen equipment, utensils, and work surfaces
• Monitor and manage inventory levels of ingredients and supplies, notifying supervisors when stock is low
• Help with plating dishes and preparing garnishes as needed
• Follow all health and safety regulations and guidelines in the kitchen
• Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely and efficient service during peak hours

Requirements:

• Previous experience in a kitchen or food preparation role preferred, but not required
• Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
