Job Description

The Fashion Copywriter will be responsible for creating engaging, informative, and persuasive copy that aligns with brand voice and resonates with the target audience. This role will involve writing for various channels, including e-commerce product descriptions, marketing campaigns, emails, social media, blogs, and editorial content. A passion for fashion and an understanding of trends, fabrics, and the fashion industry are essential to succeed in this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Write clear, creative, and compelling product descriptions for fashion items, including apparel, accessories, and footwear
  • Develop engaging copy for marketing campaigns, including email newsletters, banners, and advertisements
  • Craft brand stories, taglines, and slogans that resonate with the fashion audience
  • Write content for social media platforms, ensuring consistency with brand tone and voice
  • Collaborate with designers, photographers, and stylists to ensure the copy complements the visuals
  • Stay up-to-date on fashion trends, designers, and industry news to produce timely and relevant content
  • Assist with writing fashion blog posts, editorials, and interviews that reflect the brand’s expertise and authority in the fashion space
  • Proofread and edit copy to ensure high-quality content that is free of errors and aligns with the brand’s voice and style guide
  • Work with the SEO team to optimize copy for search engines, using relevant keywords and phrases
  • Create compelling copy for in-store signage, labels, and other printed marketing materials
  • Assist in maintaining content calendars and ensuring deadlines are met
  • Collaborate with the marketing and design teams to brainstorm and pitch new ideas for creative campaigns
  • Develop fashion-forward content that appeals to different customer segments, from luxury to fast fashion
  • Research and understand the brand’s target audience to ensure copy speaks directly to their needs and preferences
  • Write press releases and media kits for fashion launches and events

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Marketing, Fashion, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Proven experience as a copywriter, preferably within the fashion industry
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating fashion writing, including product descriptions, social media copy, and marketing content
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a keen eye for detail
  • Passion for fashion and a strong understanding of current fashion trends, designers, and industry terminology
  • Ability to write in various tones and styles, adapting to the specific needs of luxury, casual, or fast-fashion brands
  • Experience writing for e-commerce websites and optimizing content for SEO
  • Strong research skills and the ability to understand fashion products and fabrics to write accurate descriptions
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines while maintaining high-quality work
  • Knowledge of social media platforms and trends
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with designers, marketers, and other team members
  • Proficiency in content management systems (CMS) such as WordPress or Shopify is a plus
  • Familiarity with tools like Google Analytics, SEMrush, or other SEO software is a bonus

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in writing copy for fashion marketing campaigns and working in a fast-paced environment
  • Basic knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite or Canva for collaboration on visual content
  • Experience in influencer marketing or working with fashion bloggers is a plus
  • Ability to adapt writing style to various fashion categories, from high-end designer wear to casual and street style
