Job Description

A Financial Accountant is responsible for managing and reporting an organization’s financial activities, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. This role involves preparing financial statements, maintaining accurate financial records, and analyzing financial data to support decision-making processes. Financial Accountants play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information, which is essential for effective management and reporting.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, in accordance with GAAP or IFRS.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting regulations and standards, and stay updated on changes in financial legislation.
  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliations of accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Manage the general ledger and ensure that all transactions are recorded accurately and timely.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, analyzing variances and providing insights for financial performance.
  • Prepare and file tax returns, ensuring compliance with tax regulations and deadlines.
  • Conduct internal audits to assess the accuracy of financial records and identify areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights and support business decisions.
  • Maintain accurate and organized financial records and documentation for audits and regulatory compliance.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in financial accounting or a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and regulations (GAAP or IFRS).
  • Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ethical mindset with a strong commitment to maintaining confidentiality and integrity in financial reporting.

Work Environment:

  • Office-based with a standard work schedule; may require occasional overtime during peak periods such as month-end and year-end closing.
  • Interaction with colleagues across various departments and external stakeholders, such as auditors and tax authorities.
