The Cyber Security Specialist is responsible for protecting an organization’s computer systems and networks from security breaches and cyberattacks. This role involves implementing security measures, monitoring networks for vulnerabilities, and responding to security incidents. Cyber Security Specialists play a crucial role in maintaining the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of sensitive information and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor and analyze network traffic for security breaches and anomalies, utilizing intrusion detection systems and security information and event management (SIEM) tools
- Implement and maintain security protocols, policies, and procedures to safeguard sensitive data and IT assets
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify weaknesses in systems and networks
- Respond to security incidents, investigating breaches and implementing corrective actions to prevent future occurrences
- Collaborate with IT teams to design and implement security architectures, firewalls, and access controls
- Develop and deliver cybersecurity awareness training for employees to promote safe computing practices
- Stay updated on emerging cybersecurity threats, trends, and technologies to proactively protect the organization
- Prepare detailed reports and documentation related to security incidents, vulnerabilities, and compliance
- Assist in the development and enforcement of security policies and standards in alignment with regulatory requirements
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, cybersecurity, or a related field
- Proven experience in cybersecurity, information security, or a related area
- Strong understanding of network protocols, security architecture, and common security tools and technologies
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks and compliance standards such as ISO 27001, NIST, and GDPR
- Relevant certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), or CompTIA Security+ preferred
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Strong communication skills to convey complex security concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
