Job Description

The News Producer is responsible for planning, coordinating, and producing engaging news broadcasts. This role includes managing the editorial process, determining story lineup, writing scripts, and collaborating with the news team to ensure timely and accurate presentation of news content.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, organize, and coordinate news broadcasts, including determining the order of stories, writing scripts, and ensuring editorial accuracy.
  • Work closely with reporters, anchors, and other staff to produce high-quality news content.
  • Manage the editorial process, making decisions on story placement and format.
  • Collaborate with the assignment desk to prioritize news coverage and monitor breaking news.
  • Write and edit news scripts to ensure accuracy, clarity, and engaging content.
  • Oversee live news production, making last-minute adjustments to broadcasts as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards in news reporting.
  • Coordinate with technical teams to ensure smooth broadcasting and troubleshoot technical issues as needed.
  • Utilize digital and social media platforms to promote news stories and broadcasts.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in news production or broadcasting.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with broadcast software, newsroom systems, and live production techniques.
  • Strong editorial judgment and understanding of journalistic standards and ethics.
  • Ability to lead and work collaboratively with a news team.
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
