Job Description

The Financial Controller is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of an organization, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting and compliance with applicable regulations. This role involves managing the accounting team, developing financial strategies, and providing insightful analysis to support decision-making. The Financial Controller plays a critical role in shaping the financial future of the organization and ensuring its long-term financial health.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the daily operations of the finance and accounting department, including the management of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, in compliance with GAAP or IFRS.
  • Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to enhance financial controls and operational efficiency.
  • Coordinate the preparation of budgets and forecasts, analyzing variances and reporting on financial performance.
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations, including the preparation and filing of tax returns.
  • Conduct financial audits and coordinate with external auditors to ensure the integrity of financial information.
  • Provide strategic recommendations to senior management based on financial analysis and market trends.
  • Monitor cash flow and working capital to ensure the organization maintains adequate liquidity.
  • Lead and mentor the accounting team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and regulatory changes, adapting financial practices accordingly.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in financial accounting or controller roles.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and compliance standards.
  • Proficient in financial software (e.g., ERP systems like SAP or Oracle) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • High ethical standards and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and integrity in financial reporting.

Work Environment:

  • Office-based with a standard work schedule; may require occasional overtime during peak periods such as month-end and year-end closing.
  • Interaction with senior management, department heads, and external auditors.
