Job Description

The Shipping Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing the shipping and distribution processes within the organization. This position requires a detail-oriented leader who can manage shipping operations efficiently, ensuring that products are shipped on time and in compliance with all regulations. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills and a solid understanding of logistics and supply chain management.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all shipping activities, ensuring timely and accurate dispatch of products to customers
  • Develop and implement shipping policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and reduce costs
  • Manage relationships with shipping carriers, negotiating contracts and rates to optimize shipping costs
  • Monitor shipping schedules and track shipments, resolving any issues that may arise during transit
  • Coordinate with warehouse staff to ensure the proper packing and labeling of shipments
  • Maintain accurate shipping records and documentation, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
  • Analyze shipping metrics and data to identify trends and areas for improvement
  • Train and supervise shipping personnel, providing guidance on best practices and safety protocols
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as sales and inventory management, to align shipping operations with overall business goals
  • Ensure the shipping department adheres to health and safety regulations and company policies

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field is preferred
  • Proven experience in shipping, logistics, or supply chain management, with at least 3-5 years in a supervisory role
  • Strong understanding of shipping regulations, tariffs, and compliance requirements
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Proficient in using shipping software and inventory management systems
  • Strong analytical skills to assess shipping performance and implement improvements
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to manage relationships with internal teams and external partners
  • Ability to lead a team, motivate staff, and foster a positive working environment
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing business needs and work in a fast-paced environment

Work Environment:

  • Primarily office-based, with regular visits to warehouse and shipping areas
  • May require working outside regular hours during peak shipping times
