As a Transportation Security Officer (TSO) for the TSA, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of travelers and transportation systems across the nation. This position involves screening passengers, luggage, and cargo at airports and other transportation hubs to detect potential threats and maintain a secure environment.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct thorough screening of passengers and their belongings using advanced security screening equipment
• Monitor passenger behavior to identify suspicious activities and intervene as necessary
• Ensure compliance with all TSA regulations and procedures to maintain a secure transportation system
• Provide exceptional customer service to travelers while ensuring adherence to security protocols
• Collaborate with law enforcement and emergency response teams during security incidents or emergencies
• Participate in ongoing training programs to stay updated on the latest security procedures and technologies
• Report any security breaches, suspicious activity, or equipment malfunctions to supervisory personnel
• Assist in developing and implementing security measures and protocols to enhance overall safety
• Maintain accurate records of security incidents, screenings, and related activities

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent is required; some college education or experience in law enforcement, security, or related fields is preferred
• U.S. citizenship is required for this position
• Ability to pass a thorough background check and security clearance process
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with the public and law enforcement
• Strong attention to detail and ability to remain calm under pressure
• Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing security situations
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods and perform security-related tasks, including lifting bags and operating screening equipment

Work Environment:

• Primarily based in airports or transportation facilities, with exposure to various weather conditions and environments
• Collaborative environment that requires teamwork with other TSOs, law enforcement, and emergency personnel
• Shifts may include evenings, weekends, and holidays, depending on airport operations
